Faculty are designing AI for use with students. Are you ready for that? Are they? In this session, we will wrestle with the difficulties and possibilities that come from building custom AI chatbots and then handing them to students. At Tufts University, we explored these questions through a community of practice where faculty created custom AI chatbots, collaborated on policies, and deployed them in their classes. Whether your institution is just getting started or already deep into the world of AI-enhanced teaching, we invite you to join this conversation. Tufts worked with 25 faculty to create chatbots for individual learning goals. Each one needed unique class policies, testing, and data gathering. We’ll share concrete examples of what worked and what didn’t—and open a forum for you to share your experiences and concerns.
