Finding the Overlooked Learner: New Perspectives on Enrollment and Student Success Metrics

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 3:15PM–4:00PM CT | EDUCAUSE Commons, Teaching & Learning Central, Poster Area
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster
In this session, we explore the conventional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used to measure and assess student enrollments and success, particularly in the context of online education. Traditionally, decision-makers have focused heavily on full-time fall beginners, often overlooking significant portions of the student population. This can result in these students being left out of essential institutional strategies, planning, and services. We will present innovative methods to expand traditional KPIs to ensure that all learners, regardless of their start term or enrollment behaviors, are included in university reporting and success metrics. By broadening the scope of KPIs, institutions can better align their strategic planning and student services with the diverse learning styles and timelines of these overlooked students. This session aims to provide actionable insights that will help institutions enhance their approach to student success and inclusivity.
