From Burden to Breakthrough: Automating CMMC Evidence and Compliance Monitoring in Higher Ed

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 9:45AM–10:30AM CT | EDUCAUSE Commons, Cybersecurity & Privacy Central, Poster Area
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster

As cybersecurity compliance requirements grow more rigorous, higher education institutions face increasing pressure to demonstrate continuous alignment—especially under frameworks like CMMC. In this session, Hawaii's Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) and Ascera.com share their joint experience deploying an automated compliance monitoring (CCM) platform purpose-built to reduce the manual lift of evidence collection and ensure ongoing readiness. Together, we’ll walk through how the ARL environment was transformed using scalable automation—supporting timely, auditable responses while freeing research teams from checklist chaos. We'll address both technical hurdles and institutional change management and reflect on lessons learned that apply to other institutions navigating similar mandates.
