From Compliance to Culture: Designing CSU’s Systemwide Digital Accessibility Remediation Framework.

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 | 3:30PM–4:15PM CT | Meeting Room 208 B, Level 2
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
In response to the new U.S. Department of Justice Title II rule and the fast-approaching April 24, 2026, compliance deadline, the California State University (CSU) system developed a scalable, system-wide Digital Accessibility Remediation Framework to proactively address digital content accessibility across 23 campuses. Rather than leave each institution to navigate complex requirements alone, CSU centralized expertise, created standardized workflows, and leveraged tools to prioritize, triage, and monitor remediation efforts. This session shares how a coordinated model, structured vendor engagement strategies, and an emphasis on system-wide collaboration are helping campuses move from reactive compliance in austere budget environments to proactive culture change. Attendees will explore CSU’s initiative in depth and leave with insights on building or scaling a similar framework at their institutions. Whether you’re just beginning or looking to operationalize accessibility at scale, CSU’s model offers a repeatable approach that saves resources, mitigates risk, and supports equity.
