Leadership: A Beautiful Mess

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 10:45AM–11:30AM CT | Meeting Room 104 AB, Level 1
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session

This is not a victory lap. It’s a guided tour through the spectacular list of things I’ve gotten wrong as a leader. The projects fumbled, people misunderstood, balls dropped, and lessons learned the hard way. Instead of chasing hustle or pretending to always get it right, this session takes an honest look at what it means to be human in an era of superhuman machines. And makes the case that empathy, humility, creativity, and persistence--qualities born from failure and imperfection--are exactly what our organizations (and maybe the world) need most right now.

Session presenter Liv Gjestvang is the recipient of the 2025 EDUCAUSE Organizational Culture Award.

Award sponsored by Moran Technology Consulting, Mission Partner.
