Learning and Supporting Digital Accessibility on a Shoestring Budget

Digital accessibility is an essential part of working with technology. But how can we address accessibility challenges with limited time and resources? Within Bucknell University's Library Services we explored ways to do this work within our own teams and across campus, despite not having any dedicated staff or formally trained expertise in digital accessibility when our projects began. Participants will learn about our experience designing a modular, reusable digital accessibility workshop that can be tailored to multiple audiences across our campus. We conducted an accessibility audit of all of our WordPress multisite "themes" and transitioned campus websites to meet those standards. We also enhanced accessibility information on the library website through a LibGuide and map of the library. Using these examples, we will talk about lessons learned during the process and how you could implement similar initiatives at your institution. None of these projects required direct funding or deep knowledge of digital accessibility to begin, and they have made a positive impact on our campus.
