This workshop aims to enhance the personal practice of enterprise architects and adjacent roles in higher education by focusing on reviewing current practices, refreshing essential skills, and developing an action plan for adaptation. Participants will begin by assessing their current enterprise architecture practice, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. This self-evaluation will cover challenges like demonstrating value, obtaining buy-in, working with sponsors, and alignment with institutional goals. The workshop will then concentrate on refreshing core skills through topics such as EA skillsets, EA tools, communication and facilitation, building an EA practice, and delivering value to the organization. Hands-on sessions and case studies will ensure practical skill application. Next, participants will create a personalized action plan to enhance scalability and innovation in their enterprise architecture practice. This plan will include the identification of opportunities for EA improvement, an inventory of changes in EA capabilities needed to realize the opportunities, and a set of actions the participant will take to drive the change.
Outcomes of this workshop:
- Learn essential methods to re/launch and mature your own practice.
- Apply lessons learned from other institutions to your own practice.
- Develop an action plan to advance your practice and build your personal professional network with other practitioners.
Note: Participants who successfully complete this preconference workshop will be eligible to receive an EDUCAUSE microcredential. To earn this digital badge, you must complete a brief workshop evaluation and share two key learning outcomes from your experience. All registered participants will receive an email on October 29 with instructions for completing these steps. Completion of both is required.
