Navigating the New Normal: Ethical and Effective AI Integration in Higher Education

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 1:00PM–1:45PM CT | Meeting Room 201, Level 2
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
How are students and faculty adapting to generative AI—and what should institutions be doing to support them? In this session, leaders from a multi-disciplinary initiative at San Diego State University will share key findings from an extensive, longitudinal campus-wide AI usage survey, now with over 20,000 responses from students, faculty, and staff. Presenters will reveal trends in access, perception, and application of AI tools, highlighting equity concerns, differences between groups, and instructional impacts. The session will also spotlight SDSU’s scalable strategies—including syllabus policy development, the launch of a public-facing AI microcredential, an AI in Action video series, and the deployment of tailored institutional AI tools. In partnership with the California State University Chancellor’s Office, the survey and microcredentials for faculty, staff and students are being expanded across all 23 CSU campuses, reaching over 500,000 potential learners and educators statewide—and beyond. This panel offers practical models and research-based insights to inform your own institution’s responsible and inclusive AI implementation.
