Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Co-Pilot are quickly becoming part of the administrative toolkit in higher education—assisting with everything from email drafting and scheduling to content analysis and coding support. But how well do they really perform in the wild? This session offers a candid, real-world look at the strengths and limitations of GenAI when applied to administrative and analytical tasks. Through practical examples, we’ll explore what GenAI gets right, where it struggles (especially with visual and context-dependent outputs), and how to determine when human oversight is still essential. Colleagues should attend this session to gain realistic, experience-based insights into what GenAI can and can’t do—and leave with practical strategies for integrating it into their own workflows without falling for the hype.
