Preparing students for cybersecurity careers requires more than lectures—it demands secure, scalable, and hands-on environments. This session showcases how higher ed institutions are building “cyber sandboxes” and virtual labs using tools like Kali Linux, Project Ares, and cloud platforms to simulate real-world cyberattack and defense scenarios. We’ll explore how to isolate these labs from institutional networks, scale infrastructure affordably, and integrate experiential learning into existing curricula. We’ll also discuss how partnerships with industry and government can accelerate student readiness while reinforcing institutional resilience. This is a roadmap for leaders looking to build future-ready cyber labs that educate without compromise.
