As leaders consider the future landscape of higher education, we know there are both significant challenges to overcome and numerous opportunities to leverage where universities may thrive in the years ahead. Among these opportunities has come the mainstreaming of artificial intelligence technology with the potential to substantially elevate the capabilities we possess and the human experiences we deliver. We see evidence of this work and impact among many prominent universities. But most institutions lack the resources to realize these outcomes alone. This session spotlights how universities across Wisconsin are partnering to share talent, infrastructure, governance models, and training to deliver safe, responsible, and cost-effective AI solutions. Led by a coalition of CIOs, this collaboration enables joint development of AI literacy programs, consultation services, and even shared AI applications—unlocking capabilities that would otherwise be out of reach for many campuses. Attendees will hear directly from institutional leaders driving this work, explore a replicable model for regional collaboration, and leave with actionable strategies to initiate or join similar partnerships within their own states or systems.
