Transforming Herding Cats to Strategic Program Management

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 2:15PM–3:00PM CT | Meeting Room 102, Level 1
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
No one tells you how messy leading enterprise IT programs in higher ed can really be—politics, shifting priorities, unclear goals, and people just trying to do their best. This session explores what it really takes to lead large-scale initiatives when clarity is scarce and control is an illusion by bringing together presenters from across the country and from a wide range of institutional contexts—including public and private, large research universities, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges. The geographic diversity spans the Southeast, Southwest, Mountain West, and Rocky Mountain regions, offering perspectives from both urban and rural settings. This mix ensures a rich, balanced conversation on program leadership that reflects the varied realities of higher education IT.
