Two Paths, One Goal: Securing Student Success Through Data-Driven Models

Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 9:45AM–10:30AM CT | EDUCAUSE Commons, Teaching & Learning Central, Poster Area
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster
In today’s higher education landscape, institutions are swimming in data. When it comes to student success, turning that abundance of data into actionable, data-informed decisions is a whole different challenge. In this session, Zach Sherwin, director of Enterprise Analytics at Berry College; and Curt Ehlinger, director of Data Management and Process Improvement at the University of Dubuque, share the distinct approaches they took to harness their data and build models that predict prospective student success. Whether building the tools in house or collaborating with a design partner, both institutions are working toward the same goal: using data more intelligently to proactively support students. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to assess their own data landscape, what’s possible with the tools they already have, and how to collaborate across departments (or vendors) to drive results.
