In a rapidly evolving higher ed and IT landscape, women and young professionals are not just adapting—they’re leading. This dynamic session brings together members of the EDUCAUSE Young Professionals Advisory Committee (YPAC) and Women in IT Community Group for an honest, story-driven conversation about navigating the early stages of leadership while breaking barriers around age, identity, and power. Through a share of personal stories, each panelist will reflect on defining moments at the intersection of career, identity, and opportunity: navigating power dynamics as newcomers, challenging assumptions, finding (or creating) mentorship, and embracing leadership in unexpected ways. The session highlights how spaces like YPAC, community groups, and professional networks can serve as crucial catalysts for connection and growth, especially when internal pathways fall short.
