Having Your Cake and Eating It, Too: Making Accessibility Win-Win

Can you have the best and newest campus technology and electronic instructional material and have it be accessible to your blind faculty and students? Representatives from the National Federation of the Blind will demonstrate how inadequate attention to IT accessibility can, but need not, shut out blind students from access to everything from clickers to departmental websites to student accounts and the systemic steps you can take to ensure mainstream access going forward and to fix what you already have. Speakers will review examples of inaccessible campus technology drawn from current examples in use at specific campuses, as well as demonstrations of accessible mainstream technology and explain why designing for accessibility may benefit your nondisabled students and faculty as well.
