Join Arizona State University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the CrowdStrike EDU Strategic Threat Advisory team for a discussion on the education threat landscape and proactive approaches to continuously protect university environments. This session will include the perspective of CrowdStrike’s intelligence team accompanied by higher education CISOs Joe Barnes, University of Illinois, and Donna Kidwell, Arizona State University, and how their institutions have developed strategic partnerships. This is a continuation of the highly rated 2020 EDUCAUSE session and will take an even deeper dive into the needs of higher ed institutions in their fight against targeted cyberattacks, sharing actionable intelligence and success stories. Tina Thorstenson, industry business unit strategist and career CISO, will moderate. Throughout the session, we will share insights on how these institutions leverage intelligence through strategic partners into their daily monitoring, surveillance, and action. We’ll share analysis of 2020 where Falcon Overwatch observed a more than fourfold increase in intrusions against the academic and education industries compared to 2019. As we talk through the threat intelligence portion, we’ll learn from our experts what innovations they used throughout 2020 and their recommendations for 2021 and beyond.
