Lessons Learned From a Cyberattack

Wednesday, June 09 | 2:00PM–2:45PM ET
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Live Session

Organizations must change the way they operate to combat increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks across ever-expanding attack surfaces. What we learn from one attack can help us protect against the next. Because the next attack is always on the horizon. What should you do to raise your defenses? SolarWinds was one of a growing number of targets of a highly sophisticated, broad, and coordinated nation-state cyberoperation that compromised multiple software and hardware companies. This operation was a broad-based attack on the IT infrastructure on which we all rely. There is a need for enhanced collaboration across the public and private sector to collectively improve how we prevent, manage, and remediate these kinds of threats and operations. In this session, SolarWinds CISO and VP of Security Tim Brown will walk through the timeline of a cyberattack, and share lessons learned and principles all organizations can use to secure their enterprises. Sharing our perspective—based on what we’ve learned from this experience and our work with leading cybersecurity experts—can help to build deeper understanding of these kinds of attacks, and to help organizations create stronger security plans.
