TechFinder: Delivering Just-in-Time Classroom Support

Wednesday, March 28 | 11:15AM–12:00PM ET | Ballroom D/E
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
In order to allow faculty and students to focus on teaching and learning, Brown's media services staff needed to streamline the process for dispatching student technicians to patrons in need of help. Our team spent the summer working with student interns from local schools to develop a location-based app for classroom support. The TechFinder app helps the Media Services team provide timely, in-person help to instructors, incorporating problem tracking and a self-assigning model for student workers. No longer limited to working in an office, students can log in and pick up work assignments from anywhere on campus.

Outcomes: Understand how to work with student interns who may not be familiar with project management or processes and are growing their skill set * Identify gaps in service delivery and determine a clearly scoped solution to address one of these gaps * Recognize the challenges 3 groups (student staff, media services support staff, and faculty) face using classroom technology
