Tuesday, February 19 | 2:15PM–3:00PM PT
Session Type: Poster (45-mins)
Delivery Format: Poster Session
At many colleges and universities, the research writing course is where students begin to develop their information literacy skills through instruction and assistance from librarians. As the number of online research writing courses increases, it is imperative that these courses also include information literacy instruction and interaction with a librarian. We will share experiences of including an embedded librarian in five online research writing courses and report on the results of a student survey. The survey results provide evidence of the effectiveness of the librarian interaction with students and the instructional materials provided by the librarian.

Outcomes: Explore strategies an online embedded librarian uses to provide information literacy instruction and research support * Examine opportunities for including an embedded librarian into online courses at their institutions * Consider the impact the embedded librarian strategies have on the development of student information literacy skills
