ITV + Apple TV: Engaging Students in a Distant-Learning Environment

Thursday, February 21 | 10:15AM–11:00AM PT
Session Type: Poster (45-mins)
Delivery Format: Poster Session
We will showcase ways in which technology can be used to enhance teaching and learning in distant learning environments. You'll discover a successful model for engaging and connecting students in a specific distant learning situation by participating in a project- and team-based lesson, which will make use of iPad, Apple TV, and videoconferencing technologies. iPads will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own device. You'll be encouraged to explore similar solutions at your institutions as a way to keep students engaged despite the challenges of multiple campuses, consolidation, and budget cuts in higher education.

Outcomes: Learn about an award-winning flipped class that makes use of integrated technologies in a distant learning environment * Collaborate with teammates in a remote location using mobile devices and videoconferencing, thereby discovering how distant learning can be engaging * Discuss ways that distant learning can become effective at your institution
