Colleges and universities are addressing the high cost of textbooks and their negative impact on students by exploring and adopting open educational resources (OER). These are teaching and learning materials published under an open license, making them free and accessible to everyone. In this session, we will discuss NJIT’s Open and Affordable Textbook (OAT) project, a collaboration between digital learning and the library, which has saved students over $300,000 in the two years of the program.
Outcomes: Define and identify OER approaches in higher education * Align OER with course redesigns * Create strategies for encouraging the use of OER
