To support students in applying information literacy skills to their personal lives, this session will model how to create interactive activities around critical evaluation of the news and search algorithm results. Topics focus on how to search for underrepresented perspectives in news coverage and identify implicit bias in search results.

Outcomes: Design lessons that empower students with critical information literacy skills for their lives outside the classroom * Implement active learning exercises that engage students, including how to search for underrepresented perspectives in the news * Become more proficient in your own evaluation of the news and search results
