Portland Community College is committed to applying Critical Race Theory to identify and address systemic forms of racial and other inequity in our policies, practices, and culture. The college even developed an innovative strategy, Take 5, for applying these concepts in practice. But what is the role of IT in these efforts, and how do we prepare our staff to participate? In this session (targeted at leaders already familiar with the fundamental concepts within the space of diversity, equity, and inclusion), we will share our answers to those questions. We designed a training session to introduce IT staff to advanced DEI topics such as intersectionality and how to challenge dominant perspectives, and we?re excited to share what we learned in the process plus some ideas you can use in your own institution.
Outcomes: Learn practical methods for applying equity and empowerment to your decision making process * Gain some ideas and insights for training IT staff
