Virtual Patients vs. Mannequins in Interprofessional Learning

On Demand
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: On-Demand
In health care, interprofessional learning (IPL) activities aim to develop nontechnical skills in learners. Currently, medical mannequins are used for this purpose, but they are costly and resource intensive. Virtual patient simulations do not have these barriers and are shown to improve students? attitudes to IPL.

Outcomes: Summarize the opportunities and challenges of using virtual patients for interprofessional learning activities * Compare and contrast virtual patient simulations with mannequin-based learning * Recognize specific design challenges in crafting virtual patient scenarios for interprofessional learning
