A low-threshold application (LTA) is a teaching/learning application of information technology that is reliable, accessible, easy to learn, nonintimidating, and (incrementally) inexpensive. We will present a low-cost, low-threshold streaming video server, built from a combination of open-source and commercial tools: Wowza Streaming Engine, JW Player, FFmpeg, and CumulusClips.


Outcomes: Explore the components and attributes of a low-threshold application *Identify the development and support costs associated with a mixed open-source/commercial product application *Decide if this approach to developing enterprise academic systems and applications is right for your institution
