Trust is a foundational element for success within higher education consortia. Member institutions cooperate but still compete for students and appropriations as examples. Risk and opportunism must be mitigated. We will present the findings of research that examined the phenomenon of trust from the perspective of consortia directors including IT leaders along with valuable insights into effective consortium leadership.


Outcomes: Identify the basic requirements for the establishment of trust within higher education consortia *Recognize interpersonal or social exchange theory factors associated with the formation of trust within consortia *Articulate interorganizational factors linked with risk mitigation, effective consortium leadership, and the creation of trust
