This session will highlight three strategies outlined in Dr. Mfume's book, What Works at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs): Nine Strategies for Increasing Retention and Graduation Rates. This presentation will demonstrate how Morgan State University is using Starfish to collect and report student data, early alerts, advising notes, and appointments.


Outcomes: Understand the value of strategic initiatives to increase retention and graduation rates * Learn how to leverage external resources (grants) and how they can effect a campus-wide culture change * Discuss how technology, tools, and systems help faculty, administrators, and staff work smarter, not harder (Google Apps, Starfish)
