Wednesday, October 26, 2016 | 2:30PM–3:20PM | Meeting Room 303A, Level Three
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Industry and Campus Hot-Topic Panel
Whether you know it as outcomes-based, competency-based, or proficiency-based learning many agree that measuring what a student has learned is more important than how long they sat in a classroom. In fact, an increasing number schools are attempting to measure learning outcomes as a way to prove graduates are workforce-ready, satisfy accreditation requirements, or increase the quality of education. But how do we make the move to learning outcomes a benefit and not a burden? In this panel, hear from three higher education institutions that are measuring and assessing learning outcomes in different ways.

Outcomes: Identify various motivations behind using an outcomes-based approach to learning * Describe how technology can support the measurement of learning outcomes * Explain the factors an institution must consider before taking to an outcomes-based approach
