With institutions —and the organizations, businesses, and even government agencies that support them —adopting open initiatives and promoting "open licensing," authentic engagement across communities is vital not only for managing disruption but also for embracing innovation. The Open Source Initiative and Apereo Foundation have worked with campuses globally and will discuss how open communities can enhance the educational mission and administrative infrastructure.
