Part-time faculty are not a "one size fits all" population. Five career types of part-time faculty bring unique interests and needs when considering online teaching. I will share the results of a study that explored the impact of various incentives used to attract and retain various types of part-time faculty to teach online at Penn State. By shedding light on the specific incentives that attract and retain each of career type, this study suggests effective ways to attract and retain specific types of this increasingly important workforce.
