Leveraging Digital Courseware to Create Intentional Learning Communities in Online Courses

This session will demonstrate how faculty, administrators, and support staff at the University of Arizona worked together to address several challenges to learners' success in online classrooms in the newly launched UA Online campus. In working to solve these challenges, the collaborators leveraged several educational technology tools to build intentional learning communities where meaningful connections between students, their courses, and their career aspirations can take place. This session will share not only the implementation and initial results but also the next steps and long-range goals and plans of UA Online for its general education courses and other potential learning communities.
