SEM04-The Role of Emerging Technologies in Higher Ed: Impacts on Teaching, Learning, and Research (separate registration is required)

How do emerging technologies impact teaching, learning, and research in higher education? Specifically, what is the role of these technologies in institutions of higher education? We will explore emerging technologies (e.g., virtual reality, drones, digital fabrication, etc.) and their applications as we seek to answer these questions. Gain hands-on experience as you 3D scan and print an "ancient artifact" and explore this artifact through virtual reality. Participants will engage in intercollegiate and interdisciplinary conversations related to emerging technology projects, tools, and policies and procedures. These conversations will highlight the hurdles, challenges, and successes of emerging technologies.

Outcomes: Re-create an ancient artifact with a variety of emerging technologies *Identify and discuss key factors related to the development and implementation of emerging technologies in institution of higher education *Connect with colleagues, and develop a network of institutions and individuals, to share information around emerging technologies
