The New School has started a revolutionary quantum computing initiative. Through quantum research and for-credit curriculum, this initiative has achieved significant progress. Impressively, nine of our students and three of our faculty/staff are among the first 96 quantum computing practitioners certified by IBM Skills Academy. We are pioneering the use of quantum technology in the fields of social research, quantum-influenced visual art, and quantum music composition and performance. Our work has incubated startups using quantum technology and opened pathways to prepare future leaders to help society accept and adopt this powerful and transformational technology. The New School’s focus on quantum co+G128mputing is accelerating related focus on the areas of equity, algorithmic bias, and access. Our quantum initiative has won the prestigious IDG FutureEdge 50 Award in 2021.
