Beyond ChatGPT: Exploration of AI in Higher Education

Tuesday, October 10 | 2:30PM–3:00PM CT | W187, Level 1
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session

Artificial intelligence (AI) will impact our technology, economy, society, and culture both now and in the foreseeable future, causing rapid and significant change in both the private and public sectors. How do individuals, and small liberal arts colleges (SLACs), prepare for this impact? What steps do they take now to prepare themselves not only to survive but to thrive in higher education in a world with AI? Members of the Hamilton College community are asking ourselves these questions…and honestly, we don't have the answers. However, we feel starting this conversation is vital. Join us for a guided conversation to identify steps we can take now to prepare ourselves, and our students, for a future with AI. We will explore a variety of applications related to higher education to build a shared context of AI while defining the pros and cons of the technology. We build upon this information to develop simple but concrete next steps for the exploration and implementation of AI at our respective institutions.
