Connecting the Data Dots for Student and Curricular Support
At CCA, a small art and design college challenged by a significantly lower enrollment following the pandemic, it’s critical to make every effort, every student, and every course, count. Several initiatives began, including early identification of students at risk of withdrawing or failing classes, high-touch degree planning for every student, and course planning that supports those plans, yet maximizes faculty and facility resources. To support these initiatives, we used Prism, a data transformation tool in Workday, to automate the snapshotting, ingesting, aggregation and de-identification of various data sources. Included are data within our student registration, degree audit and academic planning system, course management, faculty management, employee compensation, student charges and financial aid, LMS activity, faculty progress reports, and student services ticketing. Leveraging various reporting tools within Workday, we then created several composite reports and dashboards that provide unique, holistic insights across domains. Student success teams and senior leadership alike leverage these reports to direct efforts to support student success efforts, offer a lean ,yet effective, schedule of courses, and make informed decisions about where to best allocate financial and staff resources to support our students.
