Exploring the Multidisciplinary Nature of Instructional Design

Wednesday, October 11, 2023 | 3:00PM–3:45PM CT | Poster #106, Halls F1, F2, Level 3
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
Instructional designers are often the primary resource for faculty regarding course design. Given the increase in reliance on instructional design services over the past few years, it’s important for designers to have robust toolkits to support their work. The connection between instructional design and fields such as psychology, project management, and computer science is relatively easy to establish. However, designers may rely on crisis management to save a failing project or use improv skills to help develop a stronger rapport with faculty. This session explores how our lived experiences of other professions can help us enrich our designer’s tool kit.
