From Theory to Practice: Weaving Privacy Considerations in Strategic Decisions

Tuesday, October 10, 2023 | 2:30PM–3:00PM CT | W186, Level 1
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
Privacy enables innovation in campus data initiatives such as student success, learning analytics, health and wellness, online proctoring, and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. CPOs must get a seat at the decision-making table and advocate for privacy as a business leader. Several CPOs from the Big Ten Academic Alliance are synthesizing their lessons learned in privacy program development into an operational "Hitchhiker's Guide to Privacy." During this session, the CPOs will provide a preview of the Guide's themes, describe actionable practices to operationalize strategic resources like the recently revised EDUCAUSE CPO primer, and discuss how to connect those practices to strategic plans and/or roadmaps at your institutions.
