Grow Your Research Computing and Data Program (separate registration is required)

Monday, October 09 | 12:30PM–4:00PM CT | W184a, Level 1
Session Type: Additional Fee Program
Delivery Format: Preconference Workshop

As academic research increasingly becomes a team effort, more institutions are responding by providing infrastructure, staff, and services to support their researchers. It can often be difficult to determine where to start with competing priorities, such as computing resources, data storage, data security, data science and visualization support, and data sharing. In the workshop, attendees will consider research goals and current demands for research support at their institution to identify services that can be provided or augmented to meet those needs. We will also explore how to implement those services, including financial models, required infrastructure, and staff resources to repurpose or add. Attendees will consider how to gain support for these services.

In this workshop, attendees will be broken into groups based on institutional goals and program maturity to allow attendees to work toward similar goals with peers. This workshop is best suited for IT or institutional research leaders, as well as individual contributors, who are responsible for or interested in supporting research requirements at their institution.
