Launching IT Governance: Three Disparate Universities Share the Journey to Effective IT Governance

Tuesday, October 10 | 11:15AM–12:00PM CT | W185bcd, Level 1
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
A paradox of higher education today is that while institutions have emerged from the pandemic era with a powerful new suite of digital technologies and capabilities, the divide between IT and academic, administrative, and research leadership seemingly remains as it did prior to 2020. In the face of this divide, IT executives from Johns Hopkins University, the University of Notre Dame, and Auburn University discuss how they gained leadership buy-in to launch enterprise-wide IT governance, elevating the role of IT and cybersecurity and enabling more strategic and proactive engagement with their non-IT peers. While each university has a unique IT transformation imperative, effective governance is a common critical path item to create the environment in which these efforts can be successful.
