Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
Over the past three years, there has been exponential growth in the demand for noncredit and certificate courses. These courses offer lifelong learners an affordable and flexible way to update their professional skills, explore professional pathways, or enhance personal growth. We share the ways we are meeting this demand with a discussion of best practices and lessons learned from implementing an all-in-one learning solution: Canvas Catalog by Instructure. Canvas Catalog meets a broad spectrum of noncredit course offering needs, including a course catalog customized to our institution, a course registration system, payment gateways, and an accessible online learning platform. Focusing on the process, people, tools, and data aspects involved when launching a central course storefront service, the University of Maryland, College Park will speak to utilizing the Canvas Catalog platform, covering the following: Best practices for developing a successful online marketplace to market and enroll nontraditional students and internal audiences; creating a seamless digital experience for students from enrollment to completion; lessons learned from supporting large and continuously growing enrollment numbers; and creating a more inclusive and equitable path for learning and skills development for all interested learners.
