LinkedIn and Texas A&M University will co-present a session focused on the challenges of talent acquisition in higher education and how industry partnerships and technology can help solve these challenges. TAMU is currently undergoing a major talent acquisition strategy shift, centralizing the TA function and analyzing talent data in a deeper way. As a partner in this strategy shift, LinkedIn has been working with TAMU to provide talent acquisition tools and data. We will discuss challenges, including tackling a shift in strategy. Our discussion will focus on the competition for top talent, the challenge of attracting diverse candidates, shifting macroeconomic trends, and more. We will also explore the internal obstacles such as assessing the scope of the issue, creating a new internal team, and securing funding for a new program. Finally, we will delve into the partnership between industry and higher education and share insights on how to address these critical issues. The use of technology and data will be a key focus of our presentation. We will share how TAMU has been using LinkedIn's talent acquisition tools to gain insights into their hiring process and make data-driven decisions. Finally, we will present the results of the initial eight months following the TAMU strategy change, including impact metrics, challenges, and overall success.
