Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
Over the past two years, legal and regulatory protections for LGBTQIA individuals working in higher education have been shifting rapidly with changes in the political landscape across the United States. For current and potential LGBTQIA employees this presents a challenge in determining if a current or prospective educational institution will provide a supportive and protected environment for employment or collaboration. We aim to provide the current state of legal protections as they apply to Higher Education employees in each state for both public and private institutions. In addition we will attempy to project which states will become more or less protective in the coming year. We will do this by breaking states down by way of specific local and national protections in both graphical and list form. We will attempt to project future changes based on the current political and governmental makeup of each state as well as historical factors. The outcome will be a resource for LGBTQIA (and all) individuals to provide information about which institutions and/or educational systems provide protection, how much, and how stable that protection may be.
