0 to 42: Building a Six-Week Student AI Workforce at Warp Speed (Separate registration required.)

Discover how a public university leveraged an institutional grant to transform a diverse cohort, blending tech-savvy majors with nontechnical peers in discipline-specific teams into an agile AI development corps building student-facing campus tools. Participants will leave with adaptable staffing models, sprint timelines, budget frameworks, and showcase strategies they can use to launch student-led AI initiatives at institutions of varying size and capacity. Outcomes of this workshop: design a six-week operational roadmap for a student AI corps, including recruitment strategies for mixed-major teams, weekly sprint milestones, and resource allocation for a project showcase; develop a scalable staffing and budget framework that aligns student cohort size, staff capacity, and available funding sources; and implement a discipline-aligned development framework that empowers students to build high-utility AI artifacts such as custom GPTs and prompt libraries, based on their specific areas of study. Upon successful completion of this preconference workshop, participants will be eligible to receive an EDUCAUSE microcredential. To earn this digital badge, participants must complete a brief workshop evaluation and share two key learning outcomes from their experience. On October 5, all registered participants will receive an email with instructions for completing these steps. Completion of both is required.
