Skipping Steps: A Practical, Principle-Based Path from Legacy Security to Zero Trust

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 | 9:30AM–10:30AM MT
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
Higher education institutions often face a three-way tradeoff between network complexity, user experience, and security posture when evolving beyond legacy security models. This workshop presents a practical, principle-based framework for transitioning to Zero Trust that addresses all three. Drawing on real-world experience, the workshop demonstrates how a design-driven approach can reduce network complexity, improve user experience, and strengthen institutional security. Participants will leave with a clear step-by-step model and design principles they can apply with their teams to plan their own transition to Zero Trust.
