With growing demands and stagnant budgets, IT departments need to find creative ways to grow their capabilities and capacity. This talk explores the University of Maryland's internal consulting services, which has grown to one of the largest IT departments. Working within a similar business framework as private consulting firms, this approach has allowed for a highly dynamic team that has been able to adapt to and meet changing campus needs, reduce costs, retain staff, and better manage vendors.
