Before and during the pandemic, the raison d'etre of computer labs was in question. The consensus was that labs were not needed and were archaic, that students would leave and not come back. Our experience has been the opposite, but for a different reason: Students want a space to work individually, but together, and our "computer" labs provide that communal space for individual work.
