Higher education staff in positions related to teaching support (e.g., instructional design, education technology, etc.) tend to have academic backgrounds, and, as a result, pursue academic-type work, such as publishing, speaking, and teaching. Often these contributions go ignored, unvalued, or unrecognized. In this presentation, we propose that staff work typically associated with faculty should be recognized, supported, and advanced as it contributes to the university's core mission.
