Accelerating Digital Transformation with the Higher Education Reference Models (HERM)

Thursday, October 01, 2026 | 9:30AM–10:30AM MT
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
Higher education institutions worldwide are striving to modernize operations, improve data quality, and build integrated digital ecosystems. The Higher Education Reference Models (HERM), first published in 2016 and now used by more than a thousand institutions globally, offer a powerful, standardized architecture framework to support this work. Developed and maintained by the CAUDIT HERM Working Group in collaboration with EDUCAUSE (through ITANA), UCISA, and EUNIS, these models provide a shared language for describing business functions, data domains, and application ecosystems. This session will demonstrate how institutions can use HERM as a catalyst for digital transformation—accelerating architecture development, improving stakeholder engagement, and enhancing interoperability.
