As generative AI transforms teaching and assessment, institutions are rapidly offering workshops and developing policies—often without a clear understanding of faculty AI literacy. Demonstrating tools alone does not equip educators to design, evaluate, or justify AI-enhanced learning experiences. This session introduces the FTPE–AI Framework, which outlines faculty AI literacy across four interconnected domains: Foundational, Technical, Pedagogical, and Ethical. Instead of viewing pedagogy solely through the lens of AI literacy, this model considers instructional design and alignment as essential components of literacy itself. Through a realistic teaching scenario and guided reflection, participants will analyze how weaknesses in one domain can weaken the others, and how a progression-based model (Novice–Proficient–Innovator) can support more intentional faculty development. Attendees will leave with a practical framework to identify AI literacy gaps and shift faculty development from tool training to disciplined, responsible integration of practice.
