Every institution has a backlog of software problems that will never become projects. Vibe coding changes that. In this session, we share how two non-developers used AI coding to build two production systems: a comprehensive facilities information system and a campus-wide privileged access management platform. It cost about a $1,000 in AI subscriptions, and took a few months of work to build both. We will present a repeatable five-stage methodology that any institution can adopt and we outline the different skills this type of development work requires.
